Cadw is casting a spell over Wales this October, with a haunting line-up of Halloween events at some of its most iconic historical locations.
From eerie enchantments to ghostly goings-on, there’s something to delight (and spook) visitors of all ages.
Some of its most iconic monuments will host a range of haunted tours for adults, and fun activities for children over the half term break.
Whether you’re looking to create moonlit memories steeped in mystery, embrace your inner witch or wizard, or simply enjoy a fun-filled family day out with a sprinkle of spooky charm – Cadw’s packed Halloween calendar has it all.

An Evening of Ghost Stories at Chepstow Castle
Wrap up warm and settle in for an evening of ghost stories and local legends inside the old castle pantry of Chepstow Castle. Hear tales of Chepstow’s shadowy past from our storytellers, in the heart of one of Wales oldest and most atmospheric fortresses.

Spooky Halloween Week at Blaenavon Ironworks
Visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site this half term during a week of spooky storytelling at Blaenavon Ironworks. Hear legends, folklore and ghost stories and take part in a fun Halloween trail suitable for all ages.

‘We’re going on a Ghost Hunt’ at Raglan Castle
Follow a spooky Halloween trail through the grand ruins of Raglan Castle and get scared ready for Halloween night! Visit the grandest castle ever built by Welshmen and enjoy a day full of eerie fun for all ages this half term.

Scary Spooky Skeletons Trail at Caerleon Roman Baths
Visit the dark, dark Baths to find the dark, dark skeletons… and earn a dark, dark sticker! This fun and not-so-scary skeleton trail invites children of all ages to explore the Roman Baths and spot cartoon skeletons hidden around the site. Complete the trail and claim a small prize… if you dare!

Mini Pumpkin Decorating at Chepstow Castle
Get creative at Chepstow Castle this Halloween. Head into the spooky castle prison to pick your mini pumpkin, then decorate it yourself at the Halloween station. A fun, hands-on activity in one of Wales’ most dramatic clifftop fortresses.

Ghost Tours at Chepstow Castle
Explore the shadowy past of Chepstow Castle on an atmospheric evening tour filled with ghost stories, historic folklore and ancient legends. Hear tales of past residents and eye-witness accounts of paranormal activity from custodians past and present. This outdoor adults-only experience promises a chilling night to remember.

An evening of ghost stories and Welsh folklore at Caer-went Roman Town
Settle in for an adult only, spine-tingling evening of ghost stories and folklore from Gwent and beyond, told by our storytellers in the atmospheric Caer-went Barn. Discover eerie tales rooted in local legend, all in the shadow of one of Wales’ best-kept Roman secrets.
