A housebuilder in Cardiff welcomed local students to one of its developments for a behind-the-scenes look at what a career in housebuilding entails.
Pupils from Uned Drochi Iaith Caerdydd (Cardiff’s Welsh Immersion Unit) spent the day visiting Redrow’s Cwrt Y Pererin at Plasdwr, in Rhodfa Plasdwr, where they learned about the housebuilding process first-hand from Redrow’s industry professionals.
Uned Drochi Iaith Caerdydd offers Welsh-medium education in primary schools. Their provision gives pupils from Years 1-9 the opportunity to learn Welsh within a couple of terms, enabling them to access Welsh Medium Education, and creating bilingual learners who are fluent in both Welsh and English.
From foundations to finishing touches, students toured properties at various stages of construction, learning about the processes behind each build phase in both languages, before touring the show homes to visualise the finished product.
The site manager at Cwrt Y Pererin, Charlie Jones, later took the eager pupils on a tour of the development, before delivering an insightful talk about the housebuilding industry and their own personal career paths into the sector.
Beth Ellis, a teacher at Uned Drochi, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to Redrow South Wales for welcoming us to Cwrt Y Pererin and providing our students with a first-hand look into what a career in housebuilding looks like day-to-day – everyone had a fantastic time.”
Sian Smith, Sales Director at Barratt David Wilson Redrow South Wales, says: “It’s always a pleasure to have younger generations visiting our developments – especially those interested in pursuing a career in housebuilding.
“These students are the next generation of our workforce in the region, and it’s fantastic to be able to physically show them what a career in construction can look like. We are proud to be able to share our developments to help teach children everything about housebuilding.
“Our Cwrt Y Pererin development is in a wonderful location on the outskirts of Cardiff and has proved particularly popular with families. We hope the children enjoyed their visit, gained a valuable insight into the world of housebuilding, and left feeling inspired by the opportunities the construction industry has to offer.”
Located just under four miles away from the centre of Cardiff, this new development will offer the perfect balance of rural living with easy access to amenities. With great transport links and a range of great shops and local schools, this development is set to be the perfect base for families, couples and commuters.
