Last chance to have your say in speed limit consultation – and how residents in Cefn Cribwr, Pyle and Kenfig Hill will be affected

New legislation from the Senedd means that from 17 September 2023, the national speed limit will fall from 30mph to 20mph on restricted roads.

Residents are reminded that the consultation is due to close on Monday 24 April so you are advised to act quickly to have your say. The move aims to reduce road injuries, offer a safer environment to encourage cycling or walking, as well as lower noise pollution.

The council has identified roads all across the county borough that may retain the existing 30mph speed limit. In Cefn Cribwr, Kenfig Hill and Pyle these are:-

  • Farm Road and Cefn Cross to the Life Centre, Cefn Road, Cefn Cribwr
  • Cwm Ffoes
  • Top of Llangewydd to Cefn Cross
  • Bedford Road, Cefn Cribwr
  • Former reservoir site on Cefn Road to the top of High Street, Kenfig Hill
  • Waunbant Road, Kenfig Hill from its junction with South View towards Tranch, Pyle
  • Pyle Road, Pyle
  • Village Farm Industrial Estate, Pyle

These roads will then be exceptions to the Welsh Government 20mph scheme.

You can view maps of all proposed exceptions to the 20mph speed limit across the county borough on the council’s website with a link to the survey.
