ACCA Cymru/Wales on the new Welsh Government

ACCA Cymru/Wales congratulates Plaid Cymru on forming the new Welsh Government and the appointment of Rhun ap Iorwerth as First Minister of Wales.

As outlined in our pre-election policy asks, ACCA Cymru/Wales calls on the new Welsh Government to:

  • Address skills needs, attract new businesses and boost productivity by expanding apprenticeship and funded short course provision, while improving employer voice at national and regional level.
  • Create a thriving economy through business support, funding and engagement of key business advisors, and by minimising costs and regulation.
  • Improve productivity and transparency in public finance through multi-year funding, and improved support for finance professionals.
  • Develop a clear routemap of additional action to support businesses, especially SMEs, to meet Wales’ climate ambitions.

Lloyd Powell, head of ACCA Cymru/Wales, said: “In Wales, ACCA has a thriving community of over 6,400 members and students working in all sectors of the economy and in all parts of the country, supporting businesses and organisations of all sizes. We hope that our expertise, insights and research can support the work of the new government to grow the economy of Wales and build a better Wales.”
