Across Bridgend County Borough, families of pupils eligible for free school meals, due to low income, will benefit from additional support in the coming few weeks.
Firstly, the council, using funding from Welsh Government, is making an additional £30 payment to those who are eligible for free school meals.
The payment is being met from the council’s discretionary cost of living fund and will be made by the end of March.
Secondly, Welsh Government is offering further funding to eligible families to support them with the cost of living crisis. This financial assistance will be available over Easter and until the end of May half term holiday, including all bank holidays during this period.
The vouchers covering the two-week Easter holiday period will be issued to all eligible pupils as follows:
Week One – £19.50 voucher issued by Wednesday 5 April 2023
Week Two – £19.50 voucher issued by Wednesday 12 April 2023
Any queries relating to non-receipt of these vouchers can only be dealt with following each of the final issue dates, detailed above.
Cllr Jon-Paul Blundell, Cabinet Minister for Education, said: ““Families will be receiving extra support during these financially challenging times.
“We hope that this additional money will assist families, especially during the Easter holidays.”
“It is also great to know that this assistance will be offered beyond Easter and up until May half term.”
