People in Bridgend have been finding ways to show their solidarity with Ukraine following Putin’s invasion of the region, from collecting essentials for refugees forced to flee to supporting local church services and expressing their support online.
A public vigil is also being organised by Cllr David White and Heidi Bennett, to demonstrate local support for Ukraine. The event will take place at Dunraven Place in Bridgend town centre on Friday 4 March at 6pm.
Cllr David White, said:
“The vigil will offer an opportunity for the borough to come together to reflect and show our support for those impacted by recent events in Ukraine.
“The vigil is expected to last no more than 45 minutes, the vigil will be attended by the Mayor of Bridgend County Borough and will include an address by Reverend Rachel Wheeler. We are also hoping a local choir will attend.
