Who is the best gardener in Cefn?

Find out at the annual village horticultural show this Saturday 20th August at the Green Hall (Cefn Cribwr Community Centre) starting at 11.00am.

Organised by Cefn Gardening Club all are welcome to enter with only a £2 entrance fee for members of the public to show their homegrown produce (free to members of the Club). £2 will enable gardeners to enter an unlimited number of classes :-

Tomatoes, Carrots, Potatoes, Cucumbers, Onions, Courgettes, Peppers, Lettuce, Beetroot, Chillies, Runner beans, Salad box, Rhubarb, Apples, Shallots, Cabbage, Vase of cut flowers, Flower arrangement, Posy of herbs, Potted plant, Pot of Jam, Longest runner bean, Cherry tomatoes, Five different vegetables in a box, Funniest shaped fruit or vegetable, Sculpted vegetable, Open class – any garden produce not listed.

Judging is due to take place at 12.30pm, please take your entries over by 11.30am to register your produce, that must all be homegrown.

A shield will be awarded to the best kept allotment plot holder. Young gardeners can take part too, there will be a children’s section – best in show of any flower, fruit or vegetable.

Tea, coffee and cakes will be on sale and there will be an auction of some of the home grown produce at the end. Everybody is welcome and admission to the hall is free.

Special story and craft with PCSOs at Pyle Library

This Thursday, 18th August at 2.30-4.00pm, our local PCSOs (Police Community Support Officers) Jo and Rich are at Pyle Library for a special story and craft session for children.

Planning application by Valleys to Coast to build 16 new homes

Valleys to Coast has submitted a planning application to Bridgend County Borough Council to build 16 new homes on the former reservoir site on Cefn Road and the full plans are available online to view and to comment on the proposals.

The planning application reference is P/22/508/FUL.

Would you like a stall at Pyle RFC’s Family Fun Day?

Pyle RFC Junior Rugby are looking for a range of stalls from crafts and jewellery to homemade products for its family fun day on Sunday 28th August at Bryn Glas in Pyle.

It will cost £10 a pitch and stall holders will have to take their own table, stall or marquee.
