Come and discover what Bridgend Indoor Market has to offer

If you haven’t visited Bridgend Indoor Market for a while, you might be in for a surprise.

As well as stalls offering goods ranging from collectable toys and mobile phone repairs to cake making and specialist knitting supplies, the market now features a new square with seating which is suitable for hosting speciality events, baby-changing facilities and wheelchair-accessible public toilets.

It also features a fresh new look complete with distinctive branding and signage, illustrative wall panels and a prominent new home for the historic 1837 market bell.

Cllr Charles Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said: “Bridgend Indoor Market has been transformed in recent years with a series of new improvements, and continues to attract new tenants despite the difficulties that the coronavirus pandemic has caused.

“We have provided a wide range of support, including a new rent system with concessionary rates, flexible lease terms, significant rent reductions during the pandemic, ‘shop local’ publicity packages and more.

“The toilets have been provided in partnership with the Market Traders Association and Bridgend Town Council and cost 30p to use which is reinvested into their upkeep and general maintenance.

“We have also started holding new regular town centre markets which have drawn more customers into local shops and the indoor market itself, and we are continuing to encourage people to visit and find out what it has to offer.”
