Following reports from residents that Wildmill estate in Bridgend was being used as a “landfill” site, Bridgend council has responded and says residents have embraced efforts to limit waste and increase recycling.
Council Leader, Cllr. Huw David, said:
“Council officers from the waste and recycling team, have spoken to over 200 residents in the Wildmill area, in a recent door-knocking exercise, about the importance of correctly disposing of their waste. The properties that did not answer had an information pack posted with contact details for the team should further assistance be required.
“Officers are inspecting the waste and, in some instances, have found the addresses of the individuals concerned. They will then go through the relevant enforcement processes.
“Residents have been asked to report any signs of fly tipping and an audit of bins will be carried out to see if there is a need to install more. Valleys to Coast have also installed fly tipping signs in the refuse areas.”
