Llantrisant Bowls Club is the first ever recipient of Monmouthshire Building Society’s Community Prize Draw Saver account

Llantrisant Bowls Club is the first club to win £250 in the Monmouthshire Building Society Community Prize Draw Saver quarterly prize giving.
Monmouthshire Building Society launched the savings account in 2025, designed with community groups, organisations and clubs in mind, and every quarter every member is entered into a free prize draw.
Keith Sulley, treasurer of Llantrisant Bowls Club, said: “As a club, we have to pay for the upkeep of the green and the surrounding areas, so ensuring we had a savings account that would work for us was really important. The fact that Monmouthshire Building Society has a branch that we could easily access was also a big attraction.
“We had some difficulty trying to open a savings account with traditional high street banks, which left us feeling that they really didn’t want our business, but it was very easy with Monmouthshire. Add to that that we have now won this £250 just for having an account, it’s turned out really well for us.”
Keith added: “The account is easy to run thanks to having a branch nearby, with a decent interest rate, so it’s worked perfectly for us. Thanks so much to Monmouthshire Building Society for this contribution to our savings.”
The saving’s account is part of the Building Society’s ongoing commitment to local good causes and organisations and is open to all UK groups and clubs. A minimum deposit of £250 is required to open the account, which can hold up to a maximum of £100,000. The account has to be opened in person, at one of Monmouthshire Building Society’s 23 branches.
Sally Williams, Cardiff branch manager of Monmouthshire Building Society, said: “It was lovely to meet Keith and visit the Llantrisant Bowls Club pavilion and see what the Club is using its savings account for.
“Keith explained how much they have to spend every year on the upkeep of the green, including water irrigation systems, and maintenance etc so it’s no wonder they need a savings account that works well for them. I congratulate them on being the first to win our prize draw and look forward to visiting what organisation wins the next.”
