Mowgli Set to Serve an Indian Street Food Feast For Diners This Christmas

A feasting Christmas at Mowgli Bridgend and Cardiff

This Christmas, popular Indian restaurant Mowgli is hosting a feast with a difference that’s perfect for parties in a stunning setting.

At Mowgli, the food is all about fresh and honest home cooking, and the Christmas Feasting Menu comes straight from their Indian kitchen. At £35 per person and running from November 4 to January 5, it’s perfect if you’re planning a Christmas get-together or organising a festive meal with colleagues, with restaurants in both Cardiff and Swansea to choose from.

Inspired by the food that Indians eat at home, the recipes and spice blends have been handed down through generations and are cooked fresh every day in the Mowgli kitchen.

The Mowgli Christmas Feasting menu begins with a glass of bubbles or a cold beer at the table alongside the iconic Mowgli Chat Bombs. Street Chat & Meats includes the heady Fenugreek Kissed Fries, punchy Gunpowder Chicken, and the crowd-pleasing Himalayan Cheese on Toast with the wintry spiced ooze of strong cheddar.

For the main event, there’s a selection of towering tiffins of meat and vegetable curries with rice to share. These recipes are family heirlooms, freshly cooked each morning. To give you that real Indian home kitchen thrill, the dishes are chosen and curated by the chef – tiffin roulette is total pot luck, as it is in India. The team will gladly adapt the menu for any vegan and gluten-free guests.

Christmas Feasting is rounded off with the indulgent Mowgli Chocolate Brownie with ice cream or Mango Sorbet served in waffle cones.

Founder and Charitable Trust

Mowgli Street Food was founded by Nisha Katona. She gave up a successful 20-year career as a child protection barrister to fulfil a nagging obsession with serving food inspired by the Indian home kitchens of her ancestors.

Her first Mowgli was born in Liverpool’s Bold Street, followed quickly by Manchester. There are now 24 Mowgli restaurants across the UK.

Nisha’s background meant she created the business with charitable giving at its heart and The Mowgli Trust has so far raised over £2 million for local community charities and international causes which support children and families all over the world, creating lasting change and enriching lives.

Sustainability
The Mowgli team take sustainability into account with every decision made across the restaurant group.  Full details can be found here but actions include:
  • Committing to saving as many trees as possible by working with conservation and sustainability partners
  • Sponsoring a child in need for each full-time person employed
  • Working towards eliminating all single-use plastic and reducing waste from the business
  • Committing to becoming a Net Zero Carbon footprint business
