New soft play facility opens at Maesteg Sports centre

The latest investment into local leisure facilities to be delivered as a result of the partnership between Bridgend County Borough Council and Halo Leisure Ltd has seen the opening of an all-new ‘JumpINGym’ indoor soft play area at Maesteg Sports Centre.

Specially designed to provide local children with a secure environment where they can explore and have fun safely, the new facility includes a seating area where parents, carers and guardians can relax, unwind and watch the fun.

Spread across two levels which have been designed to offer adventure-themed play opportunities, the new JumpINGym includes a twin lane slide and a rope bridge as well as fun features such as ‘dizzy discs, roller squeezes and themed danglies’.

It also offers a dedicated toddler area with plenty to keep younger children occupied, including interactive wall panels, agility bricks, soft-play rockers and a range of electronic sensory features.

Cllr Rhys Goode, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “With free car parking and additional accessible facilities, I’m certain that the new JumpINGym will prove popular with local children as we go into the summer holidays and beyond. It is a great new addition for Maesteg Sports Centre.

“As well as being suitable for children with additional needs, it offers opportunities for children to learn and develop new skills while having fun. The new JumpINGym, which has been developed using play sufficiency funding from Welsh Government, is the first new feature to be revealed following a major refurbishment of Maesteg Sports Centre, and I am looking forward to the announcement of additional facilities in coming weeks.”
