The Porthcawl 10K is once again making a return this summer and residents are reminded that the registration period for the event is now open.
The event, which is being sponsored by Ogi, has become a firm favourite on the Welsh running calendar and will be back for the third time on Sunday 2 July in 2023 following the success of the first two editions.
The picturesque course has proved a hit with locals and visitors and the route shows off a number of county borough landmarks and seaside spots including Rest Bay, Trecco Bay, Coney Bay, the historic Grand Pavilion and the iconic Porthcawl lighthouse.
The event caters for first time runners right through to elite athletes. A series of supporting Junior races follow the 10K – meaning runners of all ages and abilities can get in on the action.
The 10k is being delivered by Run 4 Wales in partnership with Bridgend County Borough Council and other key local organisations.
For safety reasons, there will be the need for some road closures and bus diversions. These will be communicated to residents once confirmed. Event organisers will work closely with the emergency services, whose access to the route will not be affected by the event.
