Residents in Bridgend County Borough can now register for the council’s garden waste collection service which is returning this spring.
The local authority’s waste partner, Kier, is offering a chance for 100 lucky residents to win a free subscription for the year.
Winners will be randomly selected from those who sign up online for collections and will be contacted in March for a refund on their payment.
Garden waste is collected every two weeks and collections will run from 14 March 2022 until 18 November 2022. Your garden waste collection day will be advised with the delivery of your sacks. Place your sacks on the kerbside between 7pm the evening before and 7am on the day of collection.
Deputy Leader, Cllr Hywel Williams said: “This popular subscription service offers a very convenient way to have green waste collected from outside your property.
“Those who sign up will be provided with two bags and can recycle green waste such as plants, flowers, weeds, grass, leaves and hedge clippings.
“We are sometimes asked why residents have to pay for the scheme – we believe the optional collections are fairer because not all homes in the county borough have gardens, so those who want to receive the collections can choose to pay for them.”
Until the end of March 2022, costs are set at £38.91 per household, £34.85 for pensioners and additional sacks at £5.08. Prices could be subject to an increase in April.
