Restaurant Review: A Perfect Autumn Evening at Cosy Club Cardiff Bay

We recently spent a wonderful evening at Cosy Club Cardiff Bay, and it was exceptional from start to finish. The warm, inviting atmosphere was the perfect antidote to a chilly autumn night, and the service was second to none — attentive, friendly and perfectly balanced between professional and personable.  The setting is perfect, and although it was cosy and warm in Autumn, the setting, overlooking the Bay, would be absolutely perfect on a Summer Day too, particularly given the wide choice of dishes.

The warm welcome from Agnes as we approached the bar was first rate, seeing I was cold she showed us quickly to a warm spot in the restaurant –  and was kind enough to ensure my warming pot of Earl Grey Tea (a standard warm-up for me!) came very quickly – and she was also very knowledgeable about the menu, which given the menu offers plenty of choice, was a definite plus!

We couldn’t quite decide what we wanted so we began with a tempting selection of small plates, each one a winner in its own right. The Crispy Cauliflower, Mozzarella & Ricotta Arancini, Pulled Beef & Smoked Bacon Croquettes and Asian Buttermilk Fried Chicken were all bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. The standout, though, was the fried chicken – golden, crunchy and perfectly seasoned – an absolute superstar dish that we’ll be dreaming about for weeks.

For mains, we both opted for the Cosy Smash Burger, and it truly lived up to its name. Juicy, full of flavour, and perfectly cooked, it was one of the best burgers we’ve had in a long time. We couldn’t resist ordering a few sides to share – Steamed Tenderstem Broccoli, Thyme Roasted Mushrooms, Sweet Potato Fries and Truffle & Gran Levanto Cheese Fries – all of which complemented the main course beautifully.

As you can imaginee we were pretty full by the time Agnes arrived to take our dessert order, and we said we weren’t really hungry enough, but she kindly recommended the Brûléed Miso Caramel Custard Tart, and we’re so glad we listened to her. It was heavenly – rich, creamy, and the perfect sweet finish to a fabulous meal – and we truly left with very full bellies – and very grateful hearts!

We’ve reminisced about our visit since, and can’t wait to return.

The food was outstanding, but what made the evening truly special was the service. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, our waitress Agnes went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect – this branch has found a real gem in her.  We hope to meet her again when we return (probably for a breakfast as it’s dog friendly – amazing!).

Cosy Club Cardiff Bay delivered on every front – delicious food, welcoming service, and a cosy atmosphere that made for a memorable night out. We can’t wait to return and would recommend it to anyone looking for great food and a touch of indulgence in the Bay.
