Budgets for dining out are not what they were – and with the rising cost of living, simple street food is a classic that people can continue to afford and enjoy.
The good news is that definitely doesn’t mean skimping on quality of the food, street food is every bit as imaginative and just as exciting as their restaurant counterparts, just served simply from a van.
We’ve heard great things about new Bridgend vendor Celtic Kitchen and having tasted their food, we highly recommend checking them out!
Where: Rear of Celtic Tyres
Times: 8am-2pm daily
It’s no surprise to see Celtic Kitchen thriving – it’s the latest venture from much-loved chef Kristian Rollason, formerly of the Star Inn, Wick and staffed by him in person.
This is nothing like your average ‘brekkie and burger’ joint, but if that’s what you are looking for you won’t be disappointed, as he’s offering all the breakfast and lunch classics, sandwiches, wraps and rolls straight up or with a twist – along with weekly specials like Homemade Pies and Curries, Sticky, Spicy & Sweet Korean Beef, and even Creamy Harissa, Charred Pepper & King Prawn Spaghetti!
You will find a huge selection of food to suit vegetarian, vegan and of course, meat-loving diners, with one of the most delicious Smash Burger selections in town, all cooked fresh to order.
Kristian has plenty of choice available – and the tiny van is fast becoming a meeting place for his fans old and new to catch up as they wait to try his latest offerings.
Here’s his menu, but you’ll find plenty of specials that sell out quickly too, so it’s best to keep an eye on his socials for what’s on this week:
To keep in touch with what’s happening, we recommend following Celtic Kitchen on Facebook or Instagram – and order ahead if you are in a rush!
