Stage eight of the Tour of Britain, the UK’s biggest cycle race, will race through South Wales including Pyle and Porthcawl, in the final stage, on 10 September 2023.

Stage 8 starts at Margam Country Park at 11.15am, then through Pyle, reaching Porthcawl at 11.41am, and heading to Ogmore by Sea for 12.01pm through the Vale of Glamorgan, cycling through Pencoed and then north through the Ogmore Valley, onto the Rhondda and Cynon valleys. A double assent of Caerphilly Mountain will be followed by a race to the finish line in the shadows of Caerphilly Castle.

Every year some of the world’s top riders and teams come to the UK to compete in the Tour of Britain. There are 20 teams that will compete in the 2023 Tour. In each team there are six riders – 120 professionals on the start line of the opening stage.

There will be a rolling road closure impacting on traffic for a small window of time while the race passes – minimising any dangers to professional athletes and communities along the route.

You can check the stage timetables and routes for each day on the Tour of Britain website.
