A care home in Cardiff is hosting its very own fur-tastic event.
The team at Care UK’s Llys Herbert, located on Ty-Draw Road in Lisvane, is inviting local residents and their furry friends to the home’s dog café on Saturday 26th July from 10:30 am – 12 pm.
Attendees will be able to enjoy puppy-themed treats and drinks while mingling with the canine guests. The dogs will receive plenty of attention from residents, play with other pooches and will even have their own special doggy cakes.
The team at the home created the event after being inspired by the positive impact animal visits have had on residents’ wellbeing and hearing how much they enjoyed the company of their own pets in their younger years.
Having dogs in the home not only encourages residents to spend time outdoors, leading to physical benefits, but it also helps them to lead fulfilling lives, improving wellbeing and boosting endorphins.
Gillian Irish, Home Manager at Llys Herbert, said: “We are looking forward to inviting the local community to our dog café.
“Studies have shown that introducing dogs into care homes can lift people’s mood and increase social interaction. The human-animal bond is powerful in promoting positive mental wellbeing, which our event will be brilliant for.
“Whether you have a dog or not, we’d really encourage you to come along – it’s sure to be paws-itively amazing!”
